Twitter has now updated their application for iOS devices to allow support for push notifications.

This basically means that you don’t have to be logged in to the Twitter website or App to receive notifications of a new message. The push support feature has been much anticipated from users who frequently use Twitter on their mobile devices.

With the new Twitter update, users now have the ability to customize the notifications for direct messages, mentions and tweet replies. They can also opt to receive push notifications from people you are following or even anytime someone mentions your user-name on Twitter. The new Twitter update also gives users the ability to change settings for each account that they use, and you can still go to the main device settings to turn off the twitter alerts on a global level.

The official Twitter application was designed to make it simple for Twitter users to follow conversations from the Apple devices using real time searches, tweets and trending topics. The app also has the ability to show you exactly what’s happening on twitter in your GPS location. The Twitter App allows users to tweet, send messages and of course share links or video content with all of your followers.

You can download the Twitter app from the apple store for free!
